When giants fall

The story of David and Goliath is one of the most well-known stories in history. It is the ultimate story of good versus evil.

Movie producers have duplicated this story over and over. This story is written thousands of years before Rocky but has similar overtones. In every Rocky movie the odds were never in his favor.

The Rocky movies were scripted by men. The David and Goliath story is scripted by God and the Holy Spirit.

If God is in it, we can win it.

We are fighting a giant of our own — the corona giant. the Corona giant is big. COVID-19 has many scared and afraid.

Let’s learn how giant killers win their battles.

“Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war and assembled at Sokoh in Judah. They pitched camp at Ephes Dammim, between Sokoh and Azekah. Saul and the Israelites assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah and drew up their battle line to meet the Philistines.The Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them.

A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span. He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels On his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him.” — 1 Samuel 17:1–7

This story has such extreme contrasts. God takes a giant, nine foot nine inches tall, swaggering on a hillside where he challenges the entire army of Israel.

He contrasts this looming battle with a diminutive kid, just fifteen years old. The giant is a man of war — a champion. David is an unknown shepherd boy and an undersized teenager.

The giant is a freak in stature. David is less than five feet tall.

So, we have an adult versus a child; a warrior versus a shepherd — a merciless man versus and mild-mannered boy. Goliath has the best of all weapons, a coat of armor, a javelin, a…
